Etosha - Thibaut Pattern of the Month - Alexandre Fleuren Interiors

Every month I feature a favorite Thibaut pattern. My favorites share some common characteristics: they are timeless, versatile, elegant, and have a wow factor. Etosha meets every criteria, and then some! I love this perfectly executed zebra stripe.

Etosha is available as a print wallpaper, an embroidered linen, or a velvet upholstery weight fabric. I have several favorite color ways, but I don’t always like every color in every material. Read on, and I will explain what I mean.

Etosha wallpaper in Pearl is perfection. I cannot say enough about this paper. It is like a crisp white collared shirt: it goes with everything and makes everything it’s with better. For example, check out this dining room I did 5 years ago. This client is young and follows trends. She already had the dining chairs and table, and asked us to put some polish on her new house. The sample drapery from the show house I did that year was perfect for her room and her budget. Here’s a before shot:

After she bought the drapery, I convinced her to install Etosha Pearl on her ceiling. Isn’t it fabulous? Now if I could just persuade her to change her chandelier! A mirrored chandelier with more weight and bold lines is perfect:

By the way, this is another GREAT reason to go to the show house!!! Everything is for sale, and the bargains are phenomenal. My client bought the drapery for 50% off, so she was able to fit some art I selected into her budget, too. This year, the show house runs March 19-April 19, so go ahead and plan to go!

I used Etosha Pearl in a quick powder room refresh. Notice I put color on the ceiling and striped the walls. The horizontal pattern visually expands the space.

I haven’t used the Etosha Velvet, but when I do it will be Mineral or Taupe. FYI: I never used a fabric that isn’t perfect for the client. Just because I love it, doesn’t mean it is right for you or your home.

And then there is Etosha Embroidery. Most embroidered linens are too delicate for upholstery, but Etosha is dense. Applying the fabric to a headboard is a great way to use an embroidered linen. I used Thibaut Etosha Embroidery in Grey for a Wentworth Street Designer Show House.

The best color ways of the embroidery are Grey, Navy, and Taupe.
